Traditionally, an event has been held every May to celebrate the Kirwan League participants. This event has been generously sponsored by Kirwans for many years and that sponsorship continues. Of course, because of the Covid Pandemic, it was impossible to hold this celebration during 2020, 2021 or 2022. With things returning to normal, the DNR Committee decided to hold a special Gala Event this year. It took place on 20/5/2023 and was hugely successful. The venue, Sutton Golf Club proved to be excellent in every way. An enormous amount of work was put into the organisation of this event by various members of the DNR Committee but it is only fair to say that the lions share was done by our secretary, Mary Breen. We also wish to thank Kirwan's, without whose continuing support, none of this would have been possible.
The event consisted of a dinner followed by a prize giving ceremony and finishing with a Bridge game. We ran the Kirwan League during the pandemic, and also this year, online using BBO, and this proved very successful. All winning teams throughout this period were invited. In addition, we ran most of our Regional Events online during the pandemic and the winners of these were also included. As well as prize winners, sponsors and DNR Committee members, representatives from most of the DNR clubs attended.
